AbstrakRefillable drinking water is favored over branded bottled water due to its lower price. However, poorly managed refillable water businesses may produce water that fails to meet health standards outlined in Indonesian Health Minister Regulation No. 2 of 2023 on drinking water quality. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the hygiene and sanitation of drinking water depots and the presence of E.Coli bacteria in Harapan Jaya Village, Bekasi City. This observational study uses a cross-sectional approach, involving all six drinking water depots and six handlers. The sampling technique was total population sampling. Instruments used included CFU tests, observations, and interviews. Data were analyzed using the Fisher exact test. The results showed that 33.3% of the depots did not meet E.Coli standards. Place sanitation was 100%, equipment sanitation was 50%, and handler hygiene was 50%, all categorized as poor. Bivariate analysis indicated no significant relationship between place sanitation and E.Coli presence (p-value = 0.4), no relationship between equipment sanitation and E.Coli presence (p-value = 1.0), and a relationship between handler hygiene and E.Coli presence (p-value = 1.0). There is no significant relationship between the sanitation conditions of the place, equipment sanitation, and handler hygiene at drinking water depots and the presence of E.Coli bacteria in Harapan Jaya Village, Bekasi City. Authorities should optimize the supervision of hygiene and sanitation at drinking water depots. Depot owners need to improve the quality of their depots to ensure the water is safe and suitable for consumption.
